Anti-Black Racism

Anti-Black Racism is defined here as policies and practices rooted in Canadian institutions such as: education, health care, and justice systems, that mirror and reinforce beliefs, attitudes, prejudice, stereotyping and/or discrimination towards people of Black-African descent.

The Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusivity and Hamilton Students for Justice have released a document entitled “Community Safety & Well-Being for Black youth in Hamilton Schools.” This excellent resource recounts the experince of black youth in Hamilton schools as well as laying out 11 reccommendations for school boards to implement to change the experience for black youth.
